“I’d never met Michael, but I was going to perform at his concerts at London’s O2 arena. I thought, ‘I got so close, now I’m even closer – and he’s gone’.
“It was great to be able to stand there and sing his song knowing that, at least before he died, he knew who I was and knew I was a fan. When I said I loved him, it really was from my heart.”
After the service with was on 7th July, Shaheen and his mother attended a reception at LA’s very plush Beverly Wiltshire hotel.
He said: “It was weird how everybody was coming up to me and saying, ‘well done’. Janet Jackson shook my hand and thanked me. “I was thinking, ‘I should be thanking you for giving me this opportunity to be here and say goodbye to Michael Jackson’.
“I just felt so sorry for all of them – they’d not just lost a musical legend, they’d lost a family member too.”
Shaheen was tipped him for the top on Britain’s Got Talent by music mogul Simon Cowell.
Since then he has won a gained lots of celebrity fans including Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher and even his idol – Jennifer Hudson.
Shaheen’s experience was completed when he bumped into the Oscar-winner in Los Angeles.
“I was talking to her after the show, and she said, ‘I want a picture with you’. I thought, ‘Jennifer Hudson, my idol, wants a picture with me?’.
“But I’m not allowed to put it on my wall, because my mum has just painted my bedroom.”

Shaheen Jafargholi will be the main support for former X Factor winner Leona Lewis for her upcoming tour.
Shaheen was offered the slot after his performance of ‘Who’s Lovin’ You’ at Michael Jackson’s memorial concert in Los Angeles, The Sun reports.
A source said: “Simon Cowell is convinced Shaheen can be a global superstar.
“The platform given by Leona’s tour will raise his profile massively. It’s a hugely sought-after slot. Shaheen is over the moon to have been asked.”
Lewis is expected to tour her upcoming album for 14 months. The concerts are thought to have a Garden Of Eden theme and will be choreographed by the team behind Jackson’s cancelled ‘This Is It’ London residency.
Shaheen Jafargholi has revealed that Stevie Wonder complimented him after Michael Jackson’s tribute show on Tuesday night.
The Britain’s Got Talent star sang ‘Who’s Lovin’ You’ at the memorial, the song he previously performed to pass the first televised audition of the reality talent show.
Jafargholi told The Sun: “Stevie Wonder was really nice. I was in his dressing room for ages playing games and messing around.
“I was introduced to him and he could have just said hello, but he was so nice to me. He told me I had an amazing voice. It was amazing.”
Of his performance, he continued: “I was quite nervous. [Jackson] was lying there in front of me, his family were there. I had to do him proud. I was there because he was a fan of mine so I had to be on top form.
“It was really tough, but I got to say goodbye and pay my respects in a way that no other person could.”
Jafargholi added: “He will always be a legend and he touched so many people’s lives. Nobody will ever fill his footsteps.
“I’ve got a few meetings this week. I want to do what Michael Jackson did and touch people with my music. Work hard and you never know.”
